Welcome to Crafton, PA
Crafton, PA, a “Tree City USA” community, is one of the best-kept secrets of Pittsburgh. With its beautiful, historic Victorian homes, tree-lined streets, and safe neighborhoods, its a gem of a borough just 7 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. Crafton’s residents benefit from their close proximity to the Parkway, Interstate 79, the new busway, and the airport. Top this off with a beautiful scenic valley by Chartiers Creek, and you’ll know why generations of families call Crafton “home.”

Crafton Borough Disruption of Water Service
(No Water, Breaks, Low Pressure)
January 13, 2014: Crafton Borough Manager Robert Callen advises that Crafton Borough, (along with many communities in southwestern Pennsylvania), will experience disruptions in public water service, water-main breaks and low water pressure for the remainder of the winter months and early spring of 2014. The ground around buried water mains contracts, expands and shifts as it freezes and thaws, straining and breaking buried pipes weakened by age and the weight of buildings and the traffic 4’ to 6’ above them.
Many older pipes are of cast iron and were installed in public Rights-of Way (ROW) over 70 years ago. Any extreme variation of temperature may cause stresses and cracks not heretofore seen, but will become increasingly evident given the age of the existing lines.
Be advised that Crafton Borough government has no jurisdiction, nor provides any public water service to its 5,910 residents or the 2,600+ dwelling units (inclusive of apartments). Water service and the accompanying operation and maintenance is owned and operated by a separate utility, Pennsylvania American Water Company (PAWC), to which Crafton Borough residents and property- owners are its rate-paying customers.
If Crafton Borough residents experience no water service, water-main breaks or low water pressure, do not call Crafton Borough government. It cannot address your immediate problem. Rather, calls should be made to the water utility that owns, operates and maintains your water service, PAWC.
During times of water service disruption, call PAWC at 800-565-7292 to report your water service problem, give your street address, name, and the nature of the problem your property is experiencing (no water, low pressure, etc.) PAWC will/should alert you if/when water repairs will be made and estimated time of water service restoration.
