Alert: 1-24-2018

ATTENTION TO CRAFTON AND THORNBURG RESIDENTS:

On 1-23-2018 Crafton PD took a report from a resident on Hawthorne Ave. that had an unknown race, gender and age person walking away from her front door after the person knocked on the door. This person was also observed to be carrying a flashlight. The resident reported that there was some outdoor furniture that was moved on the rear porch area as if a person may have been looking into this residence. The report was filed approximately 2 hours after this unknown person was observed in the area. Please dial 911 immediately if you suspect that someone or something is suspicious in nature.

A Thornburg resident from Baldwin Rd. reported that upon returning home later in the evening of 1-23-2018 that he noticed his unlocked man door window was shattered and that the frame was damaged. His vehicle that was parked in the garage was left with the car doors open. Several items of value to include cash were left inside of the residence and it does not appear that anything was stolen at this time. This resident has a dog that stays inside of the house however when the resident returned home the dog was placed outside on a leash.

Crafton PD already issued a Crime Watch Alert at the end of last week regarding a forced entry burglary on Dinsmore Ave. in which televisions were stolen and another incident where forced entry was made into a residence on McMunn Ave. where nothing was stolen. A resident did report seeing a black male wearing a blue tossle cap, blue hoodie and blue jeans that asked him “Is Kelly Here? Is this Crafton Blvd?” It is unknown if this male has any connection to the burglaries in the area.

Please report any suspicious behavior or person to 911 immediately so that officers can be dispatched at that time to investigate who these people are and what they are doing. The officers would much rather come out and speak to someone and find out what they are doing in the area rather than take a report for items that were stolen from you or your neighbor’s vehicle or residence. The police department requests assistance from our residents to assist with observing such activities in our neighborhood and appreciate your cooperation.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO LOCK YOUR VEHICLE(S) AND RESIDENCES ALL OF THE TIME. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING (Please call 911 immediately, not later)
