Alert: 2-23-2018

Crafton PD took a theft from a vehicle report today in the 100 block of E. Crafton Ave. The resident reported that she left her truck unlocked while it was warming up this morning between 8:00-8:20 AM. A laptop computer and purse were stolen from the truck and center console was rummaged through. The laptop computer was recovered near the victim’s residence however the purse was not located. This appears to have been a crime of opportunity and residents are strongly encouraged to lock their vehicles and houses when they are not in use. They are also reminded to not leave valuables in plain sight in their vehicles.
We took another report from a John St. in which a vehicle was entered this morning as well. Items were removed from the vehicle however nothing was reported to have been stolen to include a necklace that was in plain view. The resident believes that her vehicle was locked. This took place between 8:15-10:15 AM.

The IRS phone call is still being reported. A resident stated that he received a phone call requesting him to call another number due a warrant being issued for his arrest relating to a lawsuit that was filed. This is a scam. The resident did not provide the caller with any information. The IRS will never request any information over the phone or call and tell you that a warrant was issued for your arrest over the phone.
