Crime Watch Report for December 2017

Area 1- Coordinator- Katie Fazio
12-12-17. A suspicious male stated he was with Allegheny county and wanted to see a residents hot water heater at a residence on Hawthorne Ave.

Area 2 – Coordinator-Sandy Gibson
12-25-17. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of E. Crafton Ave. was struck by an unknown vehicle during the past two days.

Area 3– Coordinator- Diane McQuaide
12-06-17. It was reported today that a package was stolen from a residence in the 1700 block of Crafton Blvd.
12-17-17. A purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked on Bradford Ave. The theft actually occurred on 12-09-17.

Area 4- Coordinator- Vacant

Area 5- Coordinator- Mary Fleming
12-01-17. A resident from Barr Ave. received 2 phone messages from the IRS stating that they were subject to a lawsuit and that an arrest warrant was issued for the resident. This is a scam.
12-10-17. An unknown person threw an egg at a house on Willard Ave. that broke a small stained glass window.

Area 6- Coordinator- Bill & Janet Finlay Jr.
12-01-17. The church on Belvidere St. was found to have damage to the front doors. No entry was made into the church.
12-05-17. Forced entry was made into the church on Belvidere St. and it is unknown if anything was stolen at the time of the report.
12-18-17. Three unlocked vehicles were rummaged through overnight. Nothing was reported to have been stolen. They were parked on Duncan Ave., Nicholson St., and Afton Ave.
12-23-17. A vehicle parked at Dunkin Donuts was struck by a gold or tan in color Chrysler four door sedan that was operated by a heavy set white male. The male left the area when the victim stated that she was calling the police.


  • Please remember to lock your vehicles. Ingram PD took several reports of vehicles that rummaged through as well. Crafton PD also took 2 reports in Thornburg regarding vehicles being entered and money being stolen from one vehicle on 12-20-2017.
  • A coordinator is still needed for the Zone 4 area. If you or someone you know may be interested please contact the police station.
  • Please be mindful when snow is predicted and obey the parking restrictions on certain streets (“No parking between signs during snow emergency”) . These areas need to be left empty so that plow trucks can treat the areas and also enter and exit alleys and roadways.
